Federal
Initiative
Engaging with Canada
Following the Supreme Court of Canada decision on the Daniels case – a decision that affirmed Canada indeed has a responsibility to Metis similar to their responsibility to First Nations – the Metis Settlements General Council engaged with the federal government to begin a dialogue on Metis Reconciliation. Progress and information on the Federal Initiative can be found here.
Consultation
Office
Engaging with Us
Given that the Metis Settlements have traditional lands throughout Alberta, effectively communicating with governments and industry about their activities on these lands is very important. Each Settlement has a consultation coordinator and MSGC has a central coordinator to assist the communities. Find out more about consultation by clicking below.
